Such women are to be “workers at home” (οἰκουργοὺς). This is the more difficult and more likely reading, rather than οἰκουρός (“keepers at home,” KJV). The word is a compound from “home” (οἶκος) and “work” (ἔργω). This does not strictly forbid women from working outside of the home, but it does say that there will be plenty of work awaiting her when she arrives home and that she must carefully balance any outside labor or activities to see that her home and family are prioritized appropriately
